Since I was working on Saturday I was not able to attend the second game. Our neighbor Sandy's son, Jake, is on the baseball team, agreed to give Weslee a ride to the game.
About noon I got a call from Weslee asking if he could go to lunch with his friend Calvin. I okayed it, and asked , "How was the game?"
"We won by ten points and went home early," replied Weslee.
When I finally got home about 4 o'clock my son Thom met me at the door and said, "There's someone here to talk to you."
Entering the living room I met Sandy and Jake, who was on crutches.
"What happened?"
Sandy explained that sliding into home plate Jake twisted his ankle badly. They ended up carrying him to the golf cart and driving him to the parking lot. She didn't even think about Weslee and left him at the field to fend for himself. Luckily Jake might not have an injury worse than the sprained ankle. No break is evident at this point. Of course Weslee said not a word to me about all of this. He found someone would take them to lunch. That was his main concern.
I did get some details from Weslee later on about this game with PYO. Izaac pitched for most of the game and BJ closed it. The other team made two runs, but we hit in 12 so we were able to end the game early. Weslee did get on base twice; one time he did make a run.
Since there are about fourteen players on the team almost everyone made a run what areor a hit, I would guess. Not having been there I can't say for sure but I bet they had a great time.
