Two games football Middle School

Breakfast this morning was good, cinnamon bagels from Panera, with hazelnut coffee.

"Weslee, look into the garbage can!  do you see what they are throwing out?"

'Yes, mom."
"I can't believe it!  perfectly good bread, in the garbage!   I just can't believe it!"
"Mom, just order the bagels."  He walks far away, reading his cell phone, acting like he does not know me as I talk to the cashier, and calls the manager.

The manager likes to donate all items, makes use of everything, and agrees to save the heels they throw away, they cannot use for their daily sandwiches, in  a bag, whenever I come in the morning.

I will be there tomorrow morning to get my first bag of discarded heels.  I can use them for baking, for stuffing, for pudding, for sandwiches.  They are just as flavorful as the bread.  I will have to sort them, if there are any sweet breads.  I will eat them as my "bagels" in the morning with coffee.

Last week we played Indian Hill at their stadium.  Their school and the country is beautiful, but the visitors seating was facing the sun.  I wish I had brought either a hat or sunglasses.  The weather was fall perfect, windy and clear that makes you think of football and hot cider.  Our team  was out numbered and we fought hard  on the field, but  players from the other team would just not let us get ahead.  In addition the officials seemed to have it "in" for us, and called a bunch of plays against us.  It was a bitter pill to swallow, losing on several fronts at the same time.  I keep telling Weslee these are the games that teach the team what character is all about.  It teaches the team how to play together, to be loyal no matter what happens, and to hold their tongues from "the blame game".  It is a time to improve and learn  the game at a higher level.

The students have a day off today.  Yesterday's  home game is on their mind.  They played hard, but  Wyoming won.  The teams were fairly evenly matched, but there were just situations that caused losses.  Wyoming scored first, six to zero.  We had a chance to even that score, when we moved up the field to the red zone, and then did not score.  The  score seemed  a tug of war, with no score for a long time.  It was  interesting watching Grant and "Big Country" run the chains.  They went down once when they got hit with a play.

Then a throw hit number 25, Ryan, and he got the tie score.  Kenny got the conversion for two points, and the score was 8 to 6, Finneytown.

Wyoming got another touchdown after a lot of work, with the score 14 to 8, and we got another touchdown, 14 tied.
If Kenny had just pushed over the line, I feel he could have made the extra points, but he tried a throw and it was incomplete.  A tie score was on the board for a while.
The score was 14 all  with only seconds to go.

We can look back, say if this play had gone differently, or if we had taken a few more seconds to run a play, it would all have gone differently.  We can surmise how the referees would have called one play for us, or another for Wyoming, it all would have changed the outcome.  What happened in the end was, Finneytown did not hold them from coming down the field.  They performed the pass forward to another player, pass again into the red zone.  Weslee saw it coming, got right there,  tried to get the ball, tipped it, but a Wyoming player caught it, and: touchdown.   Final score, Wyoming 20, Finneytown 14.
